What are the best Black Lists to use for email spam filtering?
I am an IT tech responsible for my companies’ network. We have a large number of "black lists" we can add to query incoming spam on email but what is the best ones to use? If I add too many we may not get emails we should - if I don’t use the right ones we will get all the viagra and stock quote junk we don’t want. Is anyone familiar with this that could help me?
Sounds like you are getting the Same problems most admins have.
The key is to filter the Junk, but not to bounce the Content in all cases.
The best practice is to keep the Spam and other Mail in a Cache, or Gateway so that if anyone asks about mail that was sent but did not get through from the outside, then you can release, and either take it off the Black list, or put it on a "white" list.
Refining the list for filtering is not an easy task. and Wait til you get a 10 Million email backlog on the storage servers, and someone asks you to compact the DB… takes a month on some servers

INSTALLING SOFTWARE ON UBUNTU
The use of the Terminal in most cases is not needed as Ubuntu has the Synaptic Package Manager which allows you to easily install and remove software

I’m getting "mail undeliverable" messages sent to me for messages I never sent. And the content that’s being sent out is clearly spam. I have sent a message to the Yahoo "contact us" site, but haven’t heard back yet. Trying to avoid letting the flood gates of my email address being used for spam. So far undeliverable addresses aren’t from my address book. Anyone know how to stop this?
Spammers can use any "sent by" or "reply to" address they want. It’s called address spoofing. Often, they just use random names and characters from only of the thousands of domains.
It sounds like they happen to be using your email. Since none of the messages are coming back from your contacts, it may not be due to a trojan on your own machine. Just bad luck.
Eventually, your email could get into a known spammer data base, and they will move on to another email. You won’t be able to use your address to send to anyone that is using a spam filter and/or doesn’t have you email in their address book.
Often, the spammers change email before that happens.

If I have a list in excel (one column first names, next column last names) and they all have the same email pattern (first name, dot, last name@puppies.com, for example). Is there a way for excel to create in a third column a list of all those email addresses? Thanks a bunch
If first names are in column A and second names are in column B and you want them to be together with @puppies.com
=A1&"."&B1&"@"&"puppies.com"
Then copy formula down

The list is condensed into one address, I have Yahoo mail, I would like to send my bulk mailing list to another persons computer so she can email the same people.
Not aware of any way to do other than sending a message with all the names in the TO or CC line…They will be able to add them to their contact list after receiving your email…If they have Yahoo they will get a LONG list of all the names that they do not have making it fairly simple to transfer them to the contact list.

I have someone living with me, that is making up all kind of email addresses doing all kind of things…I need to know how to find out exactly how to get into the email address they are using. I also need to find out what websites they are going on. I need to find out asap. Please be serious when giving information.
There is no way to find out the email addresses. You can probably see sites visited by doing ctrl-h unless they have cleared the history.

i need to build a deer hunting blind, but i need it to be transportable, and it to work, if u have any building ideas please list them, email me, or suggest ones that i can buy ( that wont spooke deer and is under 170$)
Are you using it for bow or shotgun? The Guide Gear® Deluxe Ground Blind is great for both! It goes up in less than a minute and only weighs 14lbs. I have one and love it! Plus has shoot through windows. Zero detection by those trophy bucks. All for around $50

My friends and I are planning to visit Edinburgh in September. Right now we are about to book our lodging and wait to buy airfare until later (when its hopefully cheaper). I am a member of several email lists that give notification of travel deals but they are mainly US based carriers.
I need sites that have low cost tickets from the US, preferrably CLT airport, to EDI. I don’t mind flying to another airport in the UK, if the combined transportation costs are cheaper than a connecting flight to EDI (example, flying into Glasgow or London and taking a cheaper flight or public transport to Edinburgh).
Lastly, with charges and fees, right now flights are about $1000 USD or 500£. We are looking for lower if possible. In January, British Air was offering $250 flights each way and something like that would be great.
Thanks in advance!
You probably won’t find $250 each way on CLT-EDI in September. Winter transatlantic airfares are cheapest; summer most expensive. This should help: http://www.farecompare.com/fare-search/year.html?destination=EDI&s=r&t=r&departure=CLT&type=homepage2 .. it rates airfares so you know what’s historically a good fare on a route, so you can be ready to purchase when the price drops at or near that level again. http://www.bookingbuddy.com is also good.

The other companies so far have been:
Yahoo Personals and Names Database.
My contacts will receive an e-mail showing my name and saying that I’m sending them an e-vite. So they open it and then they think I’m promoting the services. How do I stop this! It is sooooo aggravating. I may be losing friends because of this. How can I stop this from happening? How can this be done w/o my consent?
You have one of the newer viruses on your computer; it doesn’t actually harm your comp. but it uses it without your permission to do mass mailings. go to {ChaseandSam.com} they have a newsletter telling you how to remove it. Not all anti-viruses can recognize it as a virus.
