Access Hotmail and Gmail with a Local Email Client
If you have any questions or requests for tutorials, post a comment or pm me.
So what would be a advantage to doing it this way? You don’t have to open your browser and manually log in, and you can check many email address with the lick of the mouse (I check 10 at a time, imagine logging in and out 10 times)

I would recommend …
I would recommend using Gmail IMAP instead of POP. Using IMAP your email will stay in sync. e.g. when you read a message in Thunderbird it will be marked as read in the webmail interface as well and messages sent will also be in the sent folder in Gmail. Very useful if you have email in lots of places.

This method does work for hotmail, I always got the “negative vibes” message. And Gmail do not need this extension. You can access it directly by pop and smtp or imap

So does this mean that the emails and attachments will NOT be saved to your computer? That this would be the same as if you viewed the emails in a browser?

I really found your video useful despite the versions issues. All the others who say it went too quick is to use the pause button or back the video up a bit. I came here initially to find a way to archive my old hotmail accounts to gmail. THanks for your efforts.

Ohhh a Mac, ok, that makes sense.
Try setting your POP port to 1100 in your hotmail account settings, because Macs block ports below 1024 (not that that’s bad or anything, they just do)
