November 2009 issue of "Smart Computing". Reports about Quard-Core on te Cheep" pg11 where it tells about an AMD Athlon II X4 620 for around $99.00 and as far as the smaller size HD’s , look into The CyberGuys.com they have them. Wish you the best in your build.

http://www.craigslist.org you can easily find those parts locally. Don’t buy them shipped unless you’re buying from newegg.com or ebay. Go with AMD. You can build a nice computer for $500, watch a few videos on youtube and build it yourself.

The motherboard.
Otherwise, he’s pretty much laid it out.
Make sure that you select a socket AM3 motherboard that supports DDR3 RAM, since they aren’t too hard to find with what would be left of your budget. Select your processor and RAM accordingly.

1) all the new motherboard are integrated, so no need of video card or sound card
2) HD 8GB…I do not believe they make them any longer, you can buy a 160GB for $60 to $80

If you live in Los Angeles, e-mail me, I can give you name and address of a shop, that will build it for you (under $500) and excellent quality
(I got 5 computers from them, never had a major problem)

Thats a tough one man, 2.4 Dual is hard to come by under $500
