What equipment do I need to build computers?

Filed under: list building software — admin @ 8:10 pm

I’ve designed a computer housing and had a prototype built. To cut down on the cost, I’m considering building the computers in my home rather than hiring a computer integrator. Can someone give me a list of the main types of equipment and software that I will need to do it properly? For example, I’m thinking I will need: (a) equipment for burn-in; (b) something for imaging the operating system and drivers onto the computers; and (c) rubber floor mats. Can you provide the model numbers, approximate price, and where to buy the equipment? Thanks in advance.

Basically all you need to assemble a computer is a screwdriver.

A. Not sure what you mean by "burn in"
B. Sounds like a DVD drive.
C Rubber floor mats? Not sure what you intend to do with these.

The best place to by computer hardware is Newegg.com, or Tigerdirect.com.

Recommendations for custom building a desktop computer?

Filed under: list building software — admin @ 5:32 pm

Hi, all. I wish to custom build my own pc. Now I am not really a gamer but do want to build a failry good pc. One that can run many applications at one time without stalling and such. Basically a very fast pc. My budget is revolving around $1000 USD. I live in Singapore so that amounts to about $1500 SGD to me.

I came up with this list of hardware software. Please send in your suggestions and recommendations on this list. Areas where maybe I should spend more or maybe don’t need. Priority number one is SPEED. Greatly appreciate your help.

Casing - NZXT Alpha (comes with 2 x 120mm fan)

PSU - Corsair M620W

Processor - Core 2 Quad Q6600 - 2.4GHZ

Ram - Kingston DDR 2 - 800Mhz 2GBx2(total 4GB)

Graphic card - saphire hd2400 pro 256mb hdmi

Extra 2x fan - CoolerMaster 120mm Blue Led Model: R4-L2R-2ock-GP (I plan to place pc in non-aircon place so additional case fans)

Windows Vista home premium 64 bit OEM(I know there is alot of complains on this software but XP went through the same phase and now is fine. So I would like to go ahead and upgrade to this)

Monitor - LG 21.6 inch lcd monitor - w2241T-PF

Harddisk - seagate 1TB 7200rpm 32mb( i tend to save a lot of photos and videos so need the space)

DVD RW - Samsung 22x DVD/RW SATA Internal

Mother Board - Asus P5Q-PRO P45 Mainboard

nearly the same as my pc that i just got on the last day of september, i built it too and i live in msia. anyways, does ur motherboard suppport dual channel? I nearly got that one but i forgot, so get some kingston special kinda RAM or sth, that works with dual channel perfectly, do not get those value RAMs. get those special RAMS and graphics card not enuf info, get at least a DDR3 kinda graphics card and is better to be from ATI. get gigabyte graphics card. and yes, good fans, but if ur casing comes with a fan, i do not think they would be that much space. good hard disk and motherboard but the P45 intel chipset might not be as stable as the p35 chipset. anyways, do not get samsung burners in my opinion, mine broke in less than 2 months, now i am using pioneer. Overall, good PC!

TECHS??Building a computer son for online games, and general use. What "parts" do I need to look for?

Filed under: list building software — admin @ 5:06 pm

I want to build a computer for my son for xmas for his room. He has a puter in his room but it is so old that it wont even run some of the cheap games he bought at walmart!! It is over 15 years old. I need you to give me a list of "parts" to have this built. Now, my brother just closed a computer store in February and all of his stock is in my mothers basement. I cant ask my brother because he is "unavailable" for the next couple of years. (I’ll leave that at that!!) But, I have the opportunity to buy what i need at his wholesale cost before it is all sold. Tell me what I need from power supply, graphic cards, memory sticks, processors, fan motors, hard drive, video card, pci card, etc, and software that will build my son a good up to date computer. He is 12 years old and plays alot of games online like maple story and general game sites plus for his homework. The list i just stated was some of the stuff I saw in his stock. But I don’t know the "specs" or "speed" of what I need to look for on these parts. "PLEASE" help me as I know I can save alot of money buying this stuff.

hey let me buy too?? i can come over and give you a run down of everything. the thing is we need to know what he has, make, model number, so we can find out the specs. ill even direct you to a specialist site.

How do I Build a Computer?

Filed under: list building software — admin @ 7:57 pm

I was thinking about building a computer over the summer and i’m not exactly sure where to start so I thought that I should probably find out what is necessary in building a computer so I was wondering can somebody write a detailed list of all parts and software necessary in building a computer.

Some depends on what you want in it:

Motherboard
Case
Power supply
CPU
Memory
Video card
Hard drive
CD/DVD drive
Fans and cables that may come with the stuff you buy
Monitor
Keyboard and mouse
Windows (I prefer full OEM copy)
Any other peripherals you like (printer, media card reader, webcam, etc…)
