Can I use list from a book for online business?
I have a computer book which contains a lot of computer jargon words.
There is no explanation given to these words in that book.
Can I send one word a day with my own explanation (got from websites with open source content) to my opt-in email subscribers.
I am not selecting all words from the list.
Is this ethical way of doing business.
The list is copyrighted but explanation is not.
I have no legal knowledge, so the below is my personal opinion.
To me there is no reason why you cannot do that, your interpretation of the jargon words is solely the fruit of your hard work, you did not copy them.
Technically speaking you are doing the book a favour by helping them on the explanation.
Ha ha I think they have to pay you a fee instead.
